(gon'zõ), Slang. --adj.
1. (of journalism, reportage, etc.) filled with bizarre
or subjective ideas, commentary, or the like.
2. crazy; eccentric.
3. (of spectroscopy) cutting through the crap, especially
with lasers.

[1970-75, Amer.; appar. first used in the phrase Gonzo
journalism by U.S. journalist Hunter S. Thompson (b. 1939); appropriated
soon after by the Institute for Gonzo Spectroscopy to describe
experiments unusual both in their novelty and in their impact on traditional
paradigms.]
